We had fun making this very simple sticker picture. As you can see we had fish, shell and boat stickers, so we decided on an oceanic theme. Do you like the pencilled in fisherman? hee hee

Mother at Large asked me the other day if I had written about bubbles yet, and I was surprised to find, after browsing the archives that I haven’t…
Bubbles are a great quick activity for babies through to about eight or nine. Babies are fascinated by the bubbles they’ll stare at them gliding through the [...]

I received an email recently with a tip on finger painting, which I thought I’d share
Kids can do finger painting using pudding. You just make up a batch of vanilla and separate it out into bowls adding whatever food color you choose. Then let them go to work. The little ones will always be sticking [...]

1. Penny Toss
Provide pennies and bowls, mark a shooting spot on the grass, every penny in the pot wins a prize. [from Having Fun with Kids by Marilee LeBon]
2. Penny a Weed

We did something similar with snails when I was younger! Two pence for a snail though, it’s a dirty job.

Teaching Toddlers: Colours

When I talk about toddlers I usually mean ages 18mths - 3 years. The following activities and games can be adjusted to suit these ages easily, and extended out for preschoolers ie by including more unusual colours.
Colours
For young toddlers I would stick to the primary colours, red, yellow and blue. For the older [...]

Teaching Toddlers: Shapes

We had fun last week doing chalk drawings, it’s one of the easiest activities for Erin’s age group going. It’s simple to set up, only requires chalk and paper, and is pretty tidy too.

Sorry, no photo this time, camera batteries were out, which is a shame because this was Fun (with a capital F).

Erin was given these paint wands by her Aunty, they are really, really good. You simply leave them in water for 20 seconds the first time (the next time they should work quicker) and [...]
