Scribbit’s holding another of her famed write-away contests. I always have good intentions of entering, not for the prize or the flashy button, but because I like Michelle and her blog, in fact, her blog is one of the only to survive many a feed cull over the past eighteen months!
This months [...]

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update on my progress. On Tuesday, I sat the first assessment for the core maths 3 course I’m doing in preparation for the access course next year. It went fine, I got one wrong but hey a pass is a pass.
Whilst I was [...]
I had a discussion with someone the other day on young vs older teachers.
Are older teachers better than younger teachers or vica versa?
We talked about the pros of having a younger teacher
They’re more ‘with it’
Seem cooler to the teenagers
Have just trained, so are more aware of new methods

When I talk about toddlers I usually mean ages 18mths - 3 years. The following activities and games can be adjusted to suit these ages easily, and extended out for preschoolers ie by including more unusual colours.
Colours
For young toddlers I would stick to the primary colours, red, yellow and blue. For the older [...]

I found out about this via ReviewMe, and I just had to pass the word on…
Free SAT Exam School
First, a quick blurb from the site;
According to the College Board 2006 Profile Report analysis of SAT scores, students from wealthier families typically receive higher marks. ProProfs hopes to even out the playing field for the [...]
I have been asked to review this page on cyber bullying.
I have had no experience with cyber bullying, and it’s not a topic (as far as I can remember!) that I have ever covered here, so I’m probably quite well placed to see what I can take from the page.
My first impressions on a technical [...]
I had a very informative three and a half hour, three coffee long (the shakes have just worn off!) meeting with a primary school teacher yesterday. She is a close friend’s step mum and I very much appreciated her time.
I took a lot from the meeting, and naturally she was very articulate and very [...]

Well, the first lot of forms for the open learning course went missing in the post. I rang the college again for duplicates which I completed and returned yesterday.
The overall cost of the course is £79. £69 will be paid by ILA Scotland and I must contribute the other £10.
In the meantime I [...]
