Leveraging, Blog Carnival and Message Board

By Little Mummy, November 27, 2008 11:00 am
  • I’ve written an article on leveraging your blog posts, visitors and emails…here’s an excerpt and a link to read the rest.
  • Today I realised something simple which may change my blogging in the future.

Over the past two and a half years I have continually failed to leverage every opportunity. If you want to blog for more than just fun you need to make the most of every post, every opportunity, every email…

  • The Best of The British Mummy Bloggers Carnival is over at The Potty Diaries.
  • Scribbit has launched yet another nifty addition to her website, The Message Board, promote your work here for free. Of course I managed to completely do it wrong whilst promoting the VIP list.
  • This and That

    I’m not a great fan of these type of posts but I am desperate to tell you a few things;

    1. Please check out this post ‘SexEd from Early Years’ at British Parent Bloggers and get involved in the discussion.

    2. I have a cool new three piece suite, I’m pretty excited as a) it’s the first ‘new’ suite I’ve ever had b) It’s a funky teal and grey and brown colour c) The chair is a swivelling, rocking, recliner :) d) Erin hasn’t spilled anything on it yet and it’s been…like…24 hours already…

    3. I have a new job working as a food and beverage associate at a fancy restaurant located in a country club, and to be honest I’m really excited to be back working even though it’s just ten hours a week waitressing, it’ll be nice just to have a change of pace a couple of days a week.  Oh yeah, and I’m looking forward to picking up some recipe ideas and tips.

    4. The Uni degree is motoring on, my second essay has been sent in and I’m at the mercy of the tutor now.  Wish me luck.

    5. Does anyone know how to upload photos on the most up to date wordpress? I keep getting HTTP error messages.

    6. Littlemummy.com turned two last month and I have renewed the domain for like ten years or something so I have the best of intentions to keep up the postings.

    7. I’m looking for some fresh reading material, leave your URL in the comments and I’ll add to my newsreader. ta.

    I’m Back

By Little Mummy, July 1, 2008 11:43 pm

I’m back after a summer hiatus of three weeks, although, in my defence we were on holidays for two of those weeks – we stayed home for the first week, or rather, went out every day to galas, breakfast barbecue’s and swimming. During the second week we went to a family owned caravan near pitlochry, we swam everyday (Erin loves swimming now) and generally lounged about, it was great.

Back at home things are revving up with my OU course, the second lot of assignments are due on tuesday and I’m not exactly on schedule… on the upside I have been winning at poker, which is nice.

That’s all for now, but hopefully the posting schedule will be back to at least a couple times a week.

    Site going down briefly

    By Dave, April 17, 2008 10:23 am

I’m upgrading the backend of LittleMummy.Com, so things might look a little squiffy or stop working entirely for a short while. Bear with us.

*Update* – Aaaand we’re back. Still reactivating plugins etc, so there might be some oddness to go, but the database is upgraded and everything seems to be working fine.

Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne Guest Post

By Little Mummy, January 21, 2008 7:26 am

Just a quick note to say that I’ve done a guest post on Scribbit should anyone like to have a read, and add to my limited Burns knowledge!

Also, welcome to any of Scribbit’s readers that have clicked through, feel free to have a root around, as you can see I’m in the middle of a ten part series on blogging income at the moment but you should be able to find something of interest by clicking on a different category – if blogging income isn’t your thing!

    Absent Without Leave

By Little Mummy, December 8, 2007 8:32 am

    Hello! Long time no speak!

After an unplanned break I’m now back in the blogosphere. The time off saw us move from our Edinburgh flat to a gorgeous (I think so anyway!) house with garden outside Edinburgh in a semi-rural location. It’s actually a very small village, the locals seem really friendly and Erin and I have already been rubbing shoulders with the mothers and toddlers at the weekly meet up.

I have lots to blog about, but I’ll ease myself in gently and leave it at that for now.

Thank you for staying subscribed and also to all the new commenters!

    Littlemummy Update

By Little Mummy, October 28, 2007 3:03 pm

You may have noticed that things have been a little slow around here. I’ve been busy with various things including finally reading the last Harry Potter (more to come on that!!), taking Erin to Edinburgh Zoo, packing and planning the house move. We’ve also been mulling over our choices and feel that the time has come for me to return to work, or at least embark on a part-time job, perhaps as a learning assistant in preparation for teacher training.

As you can imagine this has all kept me pretty busy and away from the blog! Oh yeah, and did I mention that Erin seems to have hit the so-called ‘terrible’ two’s a whole 3 months early…!

The time away and other movements have given me new perspective on the blog and where I’d like it to go. Don’t worry (or maybe you weren’t!) I’m not giving it up, but it will be changing slightly. I’m hoping that these developments will be for the better.

Initially I started the blog as a filing cabinet for my creative ideas, however, I have been sucked in (willingly!) to the blogging community and littlemummy.com has become more and more personal. I’m planning to de-personalise it a little by dropping some of the more family centric postings, this is mostly to free up some time and so that I don’t feel that I have to post everyday just to ‘keep up appearances’. From now on the posting may be slightly more sporadic, but my blog reading and commenting will remain the same (or increase!). The content should be a little more on topic too, with more creative stuff, activity ideas, and parenting chat. Oh yeah, and the friday freebies are here to stay too…

Any feedback on the changes is welcome!

    I Need Your Help

I feel like I’ve come to a bit of a sticking point with littlemummy.com, visitor numbers have become static and I feel like I need to push the site on a little – I need your help.

Why do you read littlemummy.com, what are your favourite articles/features? What don’t you like, what do you skip over in your rss feed, what should I drop? What new features/topics/articles would interest you?

    Would you be interested in any of the following;

    Video
    Podcast
    Guest Writer
    Prize Giveaways
    More Reviews (toys/books)

Please throw any ideas you have at me, I’m all ears – I need some inspiration. I’d be grateful if everyone could add something to the conversation no matter how small, the more voices and opinions the better, hopefully we’ll see a pattern and it will be clear where to go from here.

    Upgrade Time

    By Dave, July 7, 2007 11:14 am

Hey there Littlemummy.Com readers, Dave here, your friendly neighbourhood webhead. The site will be down intermittently for the next little while as I do a backend upgrade of the blogging software it runs on, so things might look a little screwy or not work while it’s in progress. Bear with us.

    Update:

Aaaand, we’re back.  That seemed to go alright.  If anyone comes across any dead links, elements not loading properly or other weirdness, please drop us a line through the Contact form.

One Year Anniversary & Site Admin

By Little Mummy, June 14, 2007 4:00 am

    Hi,

Just a quick note to say that I’m doing site admin to coincide with littlemummy.com’s one year anniversary (on Sunday). Please bear with me, if there are any problems please give me a shout, if you receive duplicate feeds or email via subscription just delete. Hopefully this won’t last more than a couple of days and should improve the site a bit.

    Thanks
