Scribbit has a great way of expanding her kids’ vocabulary, which clearly works!
Autumn is a great time to go bark-rubbing as there is so much to see.

You will need:
White Paper
One piece of green, orange or brown thick paper for mounting
Scissors
Brown Wax Crayon
Watery paint in autumn colours (don’t need to take this with you!)
Paintbrush and water
1. Take your paper and crayon out, lay your paper against the bark of a tree and use the side of your crayon to gently rub until the pattern emerges.
2. Back indoors, paint over the wax rubbing with watery paint so that the bark rubbing shows though.
3. Cut the bark rubbing down to size and mount onto another piece of paper - orange, brown and green work well.
These are great for a party or to hand out to trick or treaters.
You will need;
Biscuits (not too crumbly - rich tea work well)
Icing Sugar
Green Food Colouring
Tubes of Decorating Icing
An assortment of…..glace cherries, red laces, smarties, jelly sweets, foam teeth, raisins…..
1. Mix a small amount of water with the icing sugar until you have a thick paste then add some green food colouring.
2. Ice the biscuits
3. Decorate the iced biscuits with the decorating icing, sweets and fruit to make scary monster faces
