Englishmum and I have decided to have a little soup swap today. I made this fragrant chicken soup of hers when she first published it back in 2007 and it was delicious so we’ve pulled the recipe from the archives just for you
Once you’ve devoured this one check out my onion soup over at hers.
Fragrant Chicken Soup with Lentils
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
4 spring onions, sliced thinly
1 tsp Garam Masala or curry powder would do I guess
1 bowl cooked chicken, shredded
2 chicken stock cubes …

I decided to have a bash at making a pie last week. I’ve never made a pie before, I know, I know it’s a disgrace.
Anyway I didn’t have a recipe but it turned out pretty good and someone on twitter asked for the recipe so here it is.
Ingredients
Roast Chicken
2 x Leeks
Half an onion
Chicken stock
Thyme
Garlic
Single cream
Milk
Puff pastry
Salt & Pepper
1. First off I roasted a whole chicken, and I must say I think it was my best ever. I could have quite happily munched on it like that. …

Winter’s here already so the Autumn Menu has morphed into the Winter Menu. I love lasagne in the winter, it’s so stodgy. I know that’s not a great culinary term but after doing the school run in freezing Scottish weather there’s nothing better than a plate of stodge.
Now I’m not going to patronise you by posting a recipe for lasgagne, I know *everyone* knows how to make lasagne and of course everyone’s is the best (but it isn’t, mine is haha). What I want to know is …

On Saturday I completed one of my 100 things, 20. Attend a Food Festival. I went to the BBC Good Food Show.
We booked a night in the hotel next door and had a fab time. We saw Gordon Ramsay cooking a three course meal, Fred McAulay off the radio, Olly Smith the wine guy and Brian Taylor the BBC political correspondent. Lots of the show celebs were staying in the hotel and we ended up sharing a panoramic lift with Gregg Wallace and bumping into Masterchef winner …

I love cooking and eating in Autumn. In Scotland it’s cold in Autumn but not freezing, ideal weather for warming soups, rich stews and hearty pasta dishes. During October I’ll be sharing some of my favourite Autumn dishes, nothing fancy just ‘home food’ that I love. I’m no Delia Smith either so I hope you’ll forgive me my few cheats!
This isn’t a recipe, just an Autumn meal I really enjoy. It’s sausage and mash but with a couple of twists.
Firstly the mash is cheesey mash, mash …

Today it’s French Onion Soup which we had for tea last night. Now I’m not sure this constitutes a proper French Onion Soup but it’s my very …

Love or hate Tesco you have to give them credit, they really do carry through on their strapline ‘Every Little Helps’. They’re constantly finding ways to add extra value to what they do whether it’s clubcard points, home delivery or videos like the ones below.
These videos are two examples of a bank of videos sharing tips on cookery that Tesco’s have created to help their customers get more from the food they buy. In the first video ‘how to make perfect crackling’, in the second ‘how …

I have a love/hate relationship with Nando’s. I’ve tried it three times now and although the mango and lime wrap is one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten, I struggle with everythingelse about Nando’s.
My brother and all my in-laws love it, my student mates love it, my neighbours love it. So what am I missing?
Let me be fair, the food is delicious and the restaurants are very well decorated. My problem is with everythingelse.
It’s not that cheap. ?11 for a chicken wrap, chips, coleslaw and …
