#RoyalMums Royal Caribbean Cruise 2013 – Liberty of the Seas

Earlier this year I was invited to become a Royal Caribbean parent ambassador. I had never been on a cruise before and had no real plans to go on one. I had the usual perceptions of it being expensive, claustrophobic and for old people. Royal Caribbean reckoned they could change my mind and invited me to join them on a Caribbean cruise aboard Liberty of the Seas. We would be sailng from Fort Lauderdale to Haiti, onto Jamaica and back again.

Royal Caribbean’s aim is to show us Brits that cruising has changed. It’s now a seriously fun way to discover several countries at once with your family. On board they have packed in everything a family would need to create the holiday of their dreams.

I’ll sharing more of what I discovered about cruising over the coming weeks, but let me just say, it has been a complete revelation and we’re seriously considering saving up for a Mediterranean cruise with my mum. Royal Caribbean have made multi-generational cruises a real focus.

A few facts about Liberty of the Seas first;

  • If upended the Liberty of the Seas would be as tall as the Eiffel Tower
  • Liberty of the Seas is also taller than Christ the Redeemer in Brazil
  • The inside promenade with shops and restaurants is longer than an American football pitch
  • The onboard theatre holds three times more people than a Boeing 747
  • The crew tally is over 1300
  • I’ll leave you with a video of my oceanview stateroom and my first impressions.
