As autumn draws upon us with its cooler, wetter weather we need to update our children’s wardrobes accordingly, to give them the necessary comfort and warmth. For young children this will often mean an entirely new set of clothes as last year’s won’t fit, which gives you the perfect opportunity to explore new trends.
For children, practicality is more important than looks however you will know doubt want to dress them to look good, not to mention take in to account their own tastes and desires. You want to give trends a nod but not over-do it – it’s about getting the right balance. Here are some hot tips for the autumn and winter season:
1. Warm, winter coat
As with adult clothing it’s a good idea to buy your child’s coat at the start of the season, rather than waiting for the weather to become cold when all the good ones may have already been snapped up. Shearling coats look set to be a popular style this year, providing an extra-warm layer as well as a great aesthetic. Pea coats are also popular whilst the traditional duffel coat is a good-looking and practical solution for the cooler months.
2. Stripes
Stripes is a trend that doesn’t look like abating any time soon, and it’s not too garish a trend for young children. Update the look of summer stripey tees with chunky knits with stripes of warm hues.
3. Jeans
Jeans are such a great solution for kids wear, as they provide comfort and warmth whilst being incredibly practical. The skinny jean remains top of the trends chart, although there is a wealth of styles on the market to choose from, for example those available at Vertbaudet.
4. Buckled boots
The high-street is full of the latest boot designs for children, and buckles are proving to be a popular look for both boys and girls. Opt for leather boots as they will provide the most comfort and will also be harder wearing.
