Cycling in Edinburgh

Cycling is a great way to travel around the beautiful city of Edinburgh. You can live in the city all your life and still never find all the wonderful cycle paths the city has to offer.

Some of the hidden paths are old converted railway lines which have deep embankments that will take you near the city centre. Some of these hidden routes will take you for miles without seeing or hearing a car and you can even ride from a city centre residential estate all the way to the seaside resort Portobello, passing through a tunnel which is over 500 meters long. To find out more about these hidden cycle routes visit the Innertubemap site.

Other great places to cycle in the city arethe Union canal path and some sections of the Water of Leith walkway are make for easy routes and have wonderful scenery. The Meadows and Holyrood park are other great places to cycle.

We recently joined in with the Sky Ride which was held in the city, it was lots of fun and a great way to get children involved in bike riding. To read more pop over to the Sky Ride Edinburgh post.
