The Return to Work Monster

by Ambro

After a fabulously fulfilling stint with pregnancy and motherhood, you feel it’s time to return to independence and being more than just a domestic diva. Yes, it’s time to return to work and play the ever multi-tasking super mummy! But doesn’t it break your heart to leave behind your little munchkins?

Indeed that’s the most difficult part of it all. Preparing your kids for any change is not easy. Significant periods of transition like house moves, starting school, bereavement and oh yes, potty training are not easy acts for the kids. However for most mummies being a stay at home mum is not an option with current financial crisis. Although most employments in the UK do indeed offer flexible working for parents, this may not suit everyone.

Your child’s safety is always your primary concern. Hence it becomes extremely imperative to choose your childcare very carefully. With no grandparents to care for your baby, you need to check past history and reviews of your chosen day care. Scrutinise their OFSTED reports and make sure all the employees are CRB checked. Being the over protective mummy, I’d frankly prefer an ‘Enhanced CRB’, these are my babies you’re talking about!

Next you need to be positive all times and talk to your child. Be open and honest, as communication is vital for any change. Do not keep your children in the dark with any scary hidden emotions to harbor. Settling in session at the nurseries seem very important and allow plenty of time for it all.

And now to prepare yourself! All this may sound more than just daunting. It’s easier than you think to maintain a work life balance. Always remember to have time for yourself and not lose yourself in work and the domestics. Relax, unwind, and read your favorite books while you have your sparkling vino. Playing Bingo online is another brilliant way to unwind from your chaotic week. With money and bumper prizes to win, besides making new mates in the chat rooms, it’s your own comfy heaven at home!
