Being a mum comes with no job description, and the role can be varied to say the least. From cooking and cleaning to making important life changing decisions and
managing the household finance it goes without saying
that mums are magnificent multi-taskers.

So it will come as no surprise to many mums that a
recent study compiled by British Gas showed that mums
are using the internet to help them with the juggling of
modern family life. 7 out of 10 mums are going online in
the bid to help them manage their increasingly hectic
lives, which is more than any other demographic. This
study also discovered that although mums spend the
least amount of time online, they are more efficient with
the time they are online, using it to pay bills, book
appointments and other essential daily tasks as opposed
to the younger generation who use it to socialise and for
entertainment. Also more than half of mums (54%)
admitted that without technology, they wouldn’t be able to cope with the increasing
demands of their increasingly hectic lifestyles.
British Gas have used the findings from their study to develop some online tools to help
us busy mums even more with completing the essential daily activities, such as managing
household bills and keeping an eye on energy consumption. This is exceptionally handy with
the current poor weather, when it can be difficult to trundle the children off to the bank
to pay the bills and where we are more inclined to turn the heating on and use our tumble
dryers. Managing your energy online helps us mums feel more in control of our budgets and
gives us more time to spend on other essential household activities.
The key benefits of managing your energy online are that you can monitor your balance
online and print off your bill when you need it, rather than having to wait for it to be
delivered in the post. You can book and track an engineer which is fantastic meaning that
f you need to pop out unexpectedly, you can see where the engineer is and if you will be
back in time. Another great time saving as well as money saving benefit to managing your
account online is that you can enter your meter readings on there, no worrying if you miss
the meter reader and you are only charged for the energy you use.
Not only by using these tools will it help us to save money and improve our energy
consumption, you can also get 2000 Nectar Card points for registering for an online account
and additional rewards for entering meter readings online and utilising the dashboard.
So no matter how bad the British summer is this year, we will be able to keep track of the
energy used to keep our families happy and warm.
