Do you neglect your feet through the winter and at the sign of the sun realise what a state your feet are in? Well why not give you them a treat and get them ready for the summer months.
Firstly, soak your feet in a bowl of warm water for 10 minutes. You can either add a foot soak, bubble bath or even a few drops of peppermint essential oil to relax and soothe your feet.
Once you have done this, this is where the hard work begins! Look at your nails, do they need cutting and filing. If they need cutting the best way to do this is to use nail clippers. Once you have reduced the length of them file them to desired shape. Usually an oval finish is the easiest and best for toe nails.
Now its time to tackle that hard skin. This tends to be in certain area’s of the feet, balls of the foot, heels and under the end of the little toe. Using a foot file is a great way to remove the really hard skin. Once you have removed this, use an exfoliant to smooth the rough finish the file can leave and increase the circulation to your feet. It also helps to remove any dead skin cells from off the top of the foot leaving the skin smooth and ready to absorb the cream you are about to apply.
Next massage in your foot cream. Do this for about 5 – 10 minutes to help increase the circulation and if your heels are exceptionally bad, use a heel repair balm to give them the extra care they need.
Now back to your nails. Have a look at the cuticles, do they need pushing back? If they do, use and orange stick or a cuticle hoof to push back the cuticle that is on the nail plate.
Once you have done this, swipe over the nail plate with some nail varnish remover on a cotton pad to remove any cream that has been left on there.
Apply your base coat. This is a must as it gives an even surface for your nail polish to sit on and also stops the polish staining and damaging your nails.
Then apply your chosen colour. By applying two layers this will give an even coverage and make the colour last longer. Once this has dried apply a top coat to protect the polish and add a lovely shine to the colour.
There you will now have summer ready feet!

This is a great article and offers good advice on how to look after your feet; one of the parts of your body which sees most of the days activities. I’m definitely going to try these steps later on as my feet could do with a bit of TLC, and they’re also a bit on the smelly side.
