In February I’ve been READING…
Battle Hymn of The Tiger Mother

A book by Amy Chua about her experiences of ‘Chinese parenting’. The book compares the differences between her style of parenting and a more western style, all from Amy’s point of view. The book drew a lot of criticism as some of her parenting decisions can appear quite harsh. I really enjoyed the book though and found it really interesting.
Anam Cara
Anam Cara is gaelic for ‘soul friend’, this book explores the idea that for each of us there is someone out there that is the mirror of ourselves, the person that sees us in the whole and can reflect that back through advice, support and friendship. The book goes beyond friendship into celtic spiritual wisdom. It’s the first book I’ve ever read on spirituality and I found it fascinating.
The Optimized Woman
“This book is a must read for any woman who is seeking to maximize her ability to accomplish her dreams and goals by utilizing and understanding the power of her menstrual cycle. Miranda Gray provides a practical tool that teaches women how to appreciate and respect the beauty and power of womanhood and feminine energy. This is an excellent resource for mothers to give to their daughters to help them appreciate the gift of their monthly cycles.”
I was really sceptical about this one, but as I read it was really obvious that there was definitely something ‘in it’. It’s definitely given me a better understanding of why I am like I am sometimes. Definitely worth a read if you can keep an open mind!
