For as long as I can remember, at any special occasion be it a birthday, wedding, christening and of course at sad times too, such as funerals and illness, flowers have always been a big part. This have often made me wondered why we send flowers as a token of love, sympathy or appreciation?

Is it because our senses are very powerful and usually what we use to guide us? Such as when we smell a certain fragrance it can transport us back to a specific occasion or may be it is because we humans love beautiful things and flowers are all beautiful. By sending flowers we can cheer people up, make them feel thought of and loved and also if thought about carefully remind them of a special moment in time.

I don’t know about you but I adore receiving flowers. Whether they are hand delivered or are delivered from a florists, thanks to modern technology you can have a flower delivery Glasgow even if you are sending them from Cornwall.

Flowers play an important part of the landscape which we live in and local flowers can have as much impact as beautiful exotic orchids. The Scottish Thistle is an emblem of Scotland and as soon as you see one it will take you back to beautiful and impacting landscapes of their. This along with the beautiful dainty Scottish Primrose are natural beauties from the Highlands and lovely flowers Edinburgh and the surrounding areas have to offer.

I love to bring the outside inside in our home and it always lifts my mood when I walk into a room and there is the beautiful aroma of fresh flowers. Some of my personal favorite flowers are Lilies and Sunflowers. I love the powerful fragrance Lilies have although the stamen to be a pain if not removed as it is one stain that can be tricky to get out. Sunflowers always make me smile as they are such a fun and unusual looking flower and their big sunny heads remind me of summer days in the garden with family.

There are many florists in Aberdeen all which provide beautiful floral displays, be it a simple hand tied posy to a large bouquet for an extra special occasion. It is always such a lovely surprise to hear a knock at the door and to open it to a beautiful array of smells and colours, knowing that someone has taken a few minutes out of their day to think of you and want to make you smile.

I had never thought about why we send flowers but what you say makes sense. The smell of some flowers does bring back memoirs.
