Gift Ideas for a 5 Year Old

26 September 2011 No Comment

Christmas is approaching and we’ve been reviewing some toys and gifts suitable for a five year old.

I’ve done this same post for the last few years; gift ideas for a one year old, gift ideas for a two year old and gift ideas for a four year old. We obviously didn’t bother about gifts when Erin was three ;)

So far this year we’ve reviewed;

1. Disney Reversible Princess Fancy Dress Costume

Erin LOVES dressing up. I mean she changes into a dressing up outfit every day after school and will stay in one all day at the weekend. Our current range of outfits include homemade ones that her Nan has made (she’s a costume maker!) along with shop bought ones like Rapunzel.

I loved this one for the value, while it’s not cheap at £29.99 you get two very high quality dressing up outfits. I thought with it being reversible that some of the detail might be lost that’s not the case at all. If you have a little girl who loves dressing up this comes highly recommended. They grow so fast at this age so to get two outfits (cinderella and little mermaid) for the price of one is a good deal in my opinion.

2. Let’s Rock Elmo
When I was first approached to review Let’s Rock Elmo I almost turned it down as I thought it was too young for Erin. On the box it’s advertised as 18nmths+ but my husband said that you’re never too old for Elmo and looked a bit distraught so I said yes and I’m so glad I did. Let’s Rock Elmo is one of those toys that appeals to adults and kids of all ages, he’s so cute. He sings and knows which instrument he’s been given. They didn’t make toys like this when I was a kid. At just over ?60 it’s not a cheap toy but it’s got longevity as he’s fun on a number of levels.
