How to Dry Rose Petals

25 July 2011 2 Comments

I think I’ve already mentioned that it was my sister in law’s wedding a couple of weeks back. Erin thoroughly enjoyed being a flower girl.

Once all the excitement was over I was left with deciding what to do with Erin’s bouquet of red roses, seemed a shame to just chuck them away. In the end I decided to dry the rose petals and put them in a glass kilner jar.

First I picked all the petals off, it’s best to use fresh flowers according to the internets but we had what we had and I just discarded any that had gone a bit iffy.

I then placed them on a plate and microwaved them in batches for 2 mins each. You can leave them on the side to dry but that would have taken ages and I’m not known for my patience.

Finally I gathered up all the petals and put them in a glass jar, I think this jar’s a bit big so I might buy a smaller one that the rose petals fill but I think it looks really pretty and I hope it’ll make a nice memory for Erin.
