Spring Cleaning at Chez Littlemummy

Spring Cleaning

It’s that time of year isn’t it.

It starts with deciding to pull the suite out to do a ‘proper’ clean (eh, because what am I doing the rest of the time? A half arsed one? Don’t answer that) and before you know it you’re spring cleaning the house top to bottom and making several trips to;

a) the dump
b) the charity shop
c) the neighbours and family to return everything you’ve borrowed over the last 12 months.

So far I’ve ‘properly’ cleaned the livingroom. This task alone has taken me two weeks. Well obviously I haven’t been doing it non stop you need to be in the mood to do these things and it’s strange but the mood doesn’t come very often.

My next big job then is the kitchen.

The kitchen is my least favourite room in the house to clean and for the rest of the year I usually leave it to the husband. Which means that when I come to do the ‘proper’ clean it’s hell because, well men don’t really clean clean do they? They just sort of wipe over the muck that can be seen with the naked eye. They never move anything. Now I’m not complaining (much) it’s nice to remain so oblivious but every so often the bit behind the microwave also needs to be tended to.

The only saving grace of deep cleaning and clearing the kitchen is that I get to buy lots of new pans (which I’m in desperate need of at the moment but I refuse to buy anything new until the ‘proper’ clean has taken place) and non stick cookware cos it’s all the rage innit.

So at a rate of two weeks per room I’ve calculated I should be finished by mid summer. Great.
