Has your child or Other Half has ground you down with their persistent pleading for a living, breathing ‘something’ to share their world with? You haven’t been able to fob them off with a tamagotchi or Zhu Zhu pet, so in the end you?ve relented and uttered that un-retractable word-’yes’.
If you have no real idea what kind of pet would fit best in your family, maybe you are half-inclined to let the others decide what to get. After all, they’ve promised they will do ALL the …

This week on the Leapfrog Reading Challenge we were asked to review the Cars Tractor Tipping book. I must admit my daughter was not as interested in this book as it was Cars and not very girly (!) but my two and a half year old son really enjoyed joining in with us which is great.
We love reading in our house and we normally only read at bedtime or my daughter’s school books straight from school, but since we have started this challenge I have found that we have …

This time of year everyone is thinking about spring cleaning their homes and possibly their lives(!) but what about your make up bag?
If you are like me I tend to hoard my own beauty products, thinking they will last until I have used them up. But they don’t. If anything has changed colour, consistency or smells different from when you purchased it you should throw it away.
Product Used By Dates:
Cleanser’s, Toners, Serums & Moisturisers: Two years
Eye creams or gels: Two years
Facial Scrubs 7 Masks: Two years
Lipstick: Three years
Powders: They don’t …

As a mother of two daughters, it?s really important to me that my children have inspirational female role models. In a society obsessed with celebrity culture though, it can be hard to know exactly who they should be looking up to.
I am particularly concerned as the mother of a teenager, that more and more often young women are being led to believe that being a success, being worthy of attention, is all about how you look. There are some pretty shocking statistics out there – according to OBJECT for example, …

Firstly I’d like to thank Erica for offering this review to me and also to Laura for sending this fantastic product to us to review.
My daughter has recently started school and has been bringing home her first reading books. I have been looking at ways of helping her and this is a great system to complement her school books.
It took a little while to set up the Tag pen as you have to download the audio on to the pen but once I had managed this we where off!
The first …

I’ve been so excited this week about winning the Business Start Up Award (yes, I won!) at the Business Mum Awards that I completely forgot about number 46 on my 100 things list!
So to fill you in last monday I headed down to Birmingham on the train (no direct flights from Edinburgh), well more accurately it was three trains. I was planning to be super productive on the train and write my 2500 word essay for Uni, all I managed was far too many tweets. The lovely Tara …

Guest post by Emma – Reflection on my school days now I’m a mum at the school gate. Has anything really changed?
I wish, or do I?
I was never cool enough for school, well not for the social aspects of school. I liked school, liked learning, loved reading, adored maths problems, hated PE; getting the picture yet?
I was NOT a cool kid, I wasn’t even an acceptable kid; I was the geek, the swot, the teachers pet and I was excluded and bullied mercilessly for it.
I dreaded play times when …

Being a work at home mum is extremely difficult at times, but can fit in very nicely around your family. I started out quite laid back and worked whenever I had time, mostly in the evenings once my son was in bed. This suited us very well and didn?t encroach on family time. However, since the birth of our daughter six months ago it has tipped our whole world upside down and we?ve had …
