Three Literacy Games To Help Kids Learn

Guest post by Sara

I’m a mum of two boys, and like most typical boys their age, computer games are more interesting than learning.? I wanted to help them develop their literacy skills further as I felt they were a little behind and a teacher at the school recommended to me a book by Pie Corbett
One of our favourite games is “tell a story”. We try and get as many of the family involved, from youngest to oldest.? You simply sit in a circle around the room and take it in …

5 Creative Uses for Your Wedding Dress

Guest post by Leah
We all know that a wedding dress can be cleaned and box after the wedding, or donated to bless someone else’s big day. But what if you can’t bear to part with it, yet can’t bear to see it hidden away in a box under your bed either? Here are some ideas on how to put your wedding dress to good use after the big day.

1. Have it altered by a seamstress
You could have the dress dyed, shortened and refashioned in to a timeless cocktail dress that …

A Little Bit of Luxury

There’s not a great deal of luxury in my life (altogether now, aaahhhh).
It’s mostly school runs, the dog weeing on the carpet, Erin asking if she can eat tics tacs that have fallen on the floor (no darling, mummy hasn’t mopped this week), and Alex gently pointing out that he’s eaten frosties for tea three days in a row (so open the bloody fridge and cook something man!).
At the end of last year I thought enough’s enough and went down to the local country club ‘just to see how much …

How to Start Sewing

Guest post by Leah

Sewing is making a big comeback at the moment, and there are more and more funky sewing pattern companies and fabrics becoming available, making it really good fun to sew children?s clothing. If you?re a beginner sewer and/or don?t have much confidence, sewing kids? clothes is a great way to start as they tend to be easy and relatively quick to make. You?ll feel a real sense of accomplishment when you finish your first item of clothing, and your child will look great and have something totally …

Review of WellStart & Giveaway!

I’ve been super busy with my own launch this week so I’ve drafted in some help to test this new product.

Over to my guest reviewer Modupe.
When I first read the description of WellStart, the first thing that came to mind were other online equivalents ? why pay for something when you can get something similar for free? But on using the program, I found that there are so many cool features that make WellStart worth the money, and besides, it was developed by two mums so it’s got to …

Modelling Tatty Bumpkin

Erin’s a total girl. She loves dressing up, pink and anything that sparkles, shimmers or that can be applied to beautify. Her vanity case makes my own make up bag look, well, rather ridiculous. I’m a grown woman and my four year old has more make up, nail varnish and lip glosses than me!

As you can imagine the chance to model clothes was never going to be passed up. Given the option of a vlog or pictures she went for pictures. She quickly changed into …

Easy Spanish Translation Site

With the economy the way it is us Brits might end up reverting back to our old ways and holidaying on the costa del sol, and if we do this spanish translation site will come in handy.
I went on a blogger trip to Port Aventura in Spain last year and during a nice tapas meal one of my fellow bloggers tried to order in Spanish for us, I nearly wet myself when she ordered “Dos bread por favor”. She’ll never live that one down. So …

Recession Friendly Living

So I have no idea if we’re still officially in a recession or not but the general consensus is that people are short of money and that 2011 will continue in the same vain as 2010 seeing families from all classes (ok, maybe not the upper classes) tighten their belts, hunker down and find pleasure in the simple things in life. In my opinion this forced return to thriftiness is no bad thing and it could do us all a lot of good to be a bit more resourceful. …

Nokia’s Own Voice App

Guest review from BigDaddy
It?s always nice to know where you are going on a journey in the car. Sometimes however, wrong turns are taken, tempers fray, men refuse to ask for directions, women always know the right turning but only after you?ve driven past it and the kids just want to know ?are we there yet?.
Thankfully Nokia has come up with a great solution by making Ovi maps sat-nav free with all their Smartphones. This is a very useful feature and takes away the need to shell out …
