What will you leave?
Charity is not something I focus on a lot right now. At the moment most of my effort is plowed towards looking after my own child and my own family. I think that’s ok. I think there will come a time when I’m in a place where I’ll be able to do ‘my bit’ and I definitely plan to do my fair share, or more if I can.
For example I have goals to give ?1000 out of my own pocket to a charity close to my heart, as well as volunteering for a charity at home and working for a charity abroad. I think there comes a time, perhaps when we’ve mastered looking after our own when giving back is the next step.
I love this video from the NSPCC that promotes making a charitable donation in your will. It’s a long way off (I hope) for me but something I’d definitely like to build into my life goals.

I couldn’t agree more, we should think and work for ourselves first. After we appreciate what we then we can really give something good and true!
Speaking as a fundraiser, I think your goal to ultimately give ?1000 to charity is to be applauded. You also might be interested to know that November is Willaid month and, given that we should ALL have a Will (regardless of our ages) it’s a good time to get a Will AND donate to charity in one move. You can read all about it at http://www.willaid.org.uk – but essentially, instead of paying a solicitor to make up a Will, you make a donation to charity in return for your Will being drafted. Suggested donations start at ?40 for a codicil (adding a section to an existing Will) or ?75 to have a Will written. Brilliant fundraising idea as it helps charity while giving people something they need.
Thanks for the heads up, I definitely need to get my will sorted!
