Privileged

7 September 2010 No Comment

What an embarrassment of riches we have in this country.

I started University this week, as I walked up to the campus on my first day for the first time in a long time I felt truly privileged. Not only do I have access to a top class education, but here in Scotland my first degree is free. It’s easy to forget when you live in a country that has clean water, a plentiful supply of food, access to free at the point of service healthcare, education and higher education and opportunities, so many opportunities that not everyone has these privileges.

More than 9 million children are still dying every year before their fifth birthday

It could become easy to feel ashamed at what we have, but shame won’t bring change. Action will bring change.

We’re all responsible. We can all do our bit. We have to believe that together we can lift people out of poverty, because if we don’t at least try then what hope is there? Press for change << only a signature is required, we all have the power and resources to put our name to something we believe in.
