London baby, yeah!
So on Thursday still heavily jetlagged I headed for London to take part in a feature for Tesco magazine.
A groggy and bedraggled version of me checked in at 5.15am at a surprisingly busy Edinburgh airport. I grabbed the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life (Caffe Nero I love you) and sat pondering the day ahead. I’d never been to a ‘shoot’ before, I’m usually seen in hoody, trainers and shorts! The mere mention of “hoop earrings and heels” brought on a mild panic attack.
At the other end I grabbed the stansted express and then a cab to the trendy shoreditch area and an arty complex of studios. The studio we were working in was like a very large apartment with white marble floor and white everything.
I met Rob (right) the clothes stylist who’d chosen some jeans, a blue cobalt top and a really nice cardigan from Uniqlo, thankfully the jeans fitted and were actually a bit big which was a relief after wetsuitgate (another story for another day). Soon it was time to have my hair and make up done, I was blow-dried, straightened, mascara’d and blushed to within in an inch of my life before being thrust in front of a series of umbrellas, lights and a photographer. I shot him my best smile and I’m sure I heard one of them mention something about “white teeth” and “LA smile” but I may be deluding myself.
The photographer had me do all sorts of poses including various smiles, looks and laughs. Did I feel like a tit? Well actually not as much as you’d think, I actually got quite into it. Even various people rushing into shot to adjust clothing, blush face, primp hair and fix jewellery became normal, so much so that I actually rather miss them
my hair could do with a serious primp right now.
It took them all day to get the shots they needed, one each of the four of us (myself, spiragirl, Jessica and babyrambles) and a group shot. This modelling is serious business.
A really fun day though and a chance to do something completely different.
Back at the airport, high on the glamorous life of a model I managed to spend ?150 on a loot that includuded bangles (!) and just today I’ve purchased a set of hair straighteners. What have they done to me?

What no ‘love lips’?
lol, hair straighteners? Whatever next!
Fabulous pics, Erica
Exactly, it’s a slippery slope Liz.
Thanks Nickie
Will there be lots of cobalt in your wardrobe from now on? I’m missing being primped too, a girl can get used to it. Great day.
Emily – Lots of fun, was great to meet you.
Did they bin your trainers, a la Trinny and Susannah?
You look fabulous dahling xx
Wow! You look fab. Now I understand why you are buying hair straightners. Honestly, there’s no going back after that, although you will start to get paranoid about whether you have remembered to turn them off!
EM – I actually wore sandals, linen trousers, a silk and lace vest top and a cardigan to the shoot. I was trying hard that day
Thanks Rosie, I’ve used them a couple of times – only a few minor burns so far
Ooo sounds like a great day you had! Will have to look out for you in the mag!
You look gorgeous, hon, loving that cobalt!
Looking gorgeous! Makeovers are fantastic! Wish I could be whisked away to one!
