Manatee Rescue
Our day at SeaWorld started with a behind the scenes tour of the manatee rescue and rehabilitation area. Steve our host has worked at SeaWorld for 33 years and was hugely passionate and knowledgable about the animals. SeaWorld is Florida’s no.1 rescuer for manatees, they’ve had 17 rescues so far this year and 10 releases. The whole program is funded by SeaWorld which surprised me somewhat. Steve and his team are doing a great job and it was wonderful to see the good work that …

So on Thursday still heavily jetlagged I headed for London to take part in a feature for Tesco magazine.
A groggy and bedraggled version of me checked in at 5.15am at a surprisingly busy Edinburgh airport. I grabbed the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life (Caffe Nero I love you) and sat pondering the day ahead. I’d never been to a ‘shoot’ before, I’m usually seen in hoody, trainers and shorts! The mere mention of “hoop earrings and heels” brought on a mild panic attack.
At …

I arrived back from Florida to an official looking envelope from the Open University, inside were the results from my last course, I passed! I now have an HNC in Business Studies, I’m so proud of myself as I’ve been chipping away at it from home and I’m just chuffed that it’s done now. Studying with the OU has been amazing and I’d highly recommend it to anyone that wants to start down a new path, the materials are excellent and the tutors very supportive.
I’m starting at a …

This is a photo I took at Busch Gardens during the Tiger and Orangutan Keeper Experience;
Experience what it is like to be a Busch Gardens zookeeper caring for Jungala’s Bengal tigers and Bornean orangutans.
You’ll go behind the scenes to see where the animals sleep, have the unique opportunity to help the zoo staff prepare the animals food and perform routine health exams. Your group will also take part in an orangutan training session, and then test your strength against a tiger.
We got to go behind the scenes and meet Lunabella, …

Just a wee video of clips from our amazing trip to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. The music kind of overlaps in some bits, sorry about that. Here it is;
In this video;
* Introduction to mummy bloggers
* Huge walrus
* Short clip of the ‘Believe’ show
* The children’s area in SeaWorld and the massive climbing frame
* Sealion show
* Gorillas
* Orangutan ‘Luna Bella’ having a health check. That cage is not her permanent home by the way, they have a fantastic series of indoor and outdoor areas where they live.
* The …

We were invited a couple of weeks ago to build a bear, Erin was beside herself and had already planned out several outfits for her bear-to- be before we’d even got there. Lovely Yasmin took us through the whole experience which started with a little introduction and the chance to choose an unstuffed animal or bear.
Off to the stuffing machine and more choices, first how hard or soft to have her chosen rabbit, what type of heart to place inside her, and to voicebox or not to voicebox. …

So after a good night in the Yotel we met with our lovely PR host Lucy. A quick breakfast in the V Lounge and we were on the aircraft en route to Florida.
Unfortunately there was a backup at Orlando and it took us 3 hours to get out!
There’s a lesson to be learned in every situation though, or several in this case;
* US Immigration are fierce
* People in wheelchairs don’t need to park themselves next to the baggage conveyor when they aren’t collecting their own bags.
* Tara …

So I’m finally on my way! Heading to Florida to sample the delights of SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Aquatica and Discovery Cove. Excited doesn’t even cover it And the best bit? I’m going with friends (Englishmum, Jo, Laura, Tara and Liz).
I knew we were in for a trip and a half when on arriving at Yotel I found them on a balcony (inside the airport) drinking wine, eating cupcakes, and talking about *cough* things I couldn’t possibly repeat.
Check out my room in Yotel, a hotel …

O.K. I admit it, I didn?t go to see Avatar in 3D. I didn?t even see it in the cinema. I watched it when my friend loaned me his Blu-Ray. I couldn?t deal with the hype of it all, it pushes me away from movies rather than towards them.
So I settled down with high hopes from this technologically groundbreaking movie and wasn?t disappointed??with the technology. The movie part on the other hand was a different story all together, or not as the case may be!
There is no …
