The Great British Blog Festival
I’m inspired! Guest Post Day was amazing again and I think it’s time to celebrate this phenomenon that is blogging.
Introducing The Great British Blog Festival, like a carnival, but not a carnival. A festival of blogging!
How it will work…
I’m inviting bloggers to submit their posts on blogging to me. Each day one will be published on a host blog. My two blogs will both be host blogs and if we need more host blogs then we’ll deal with that if it happens.
The festival will run from Mon 7th June to Friday 11th June. Posts need to be submitted to me by Midday Friday 4th June.
What can I write..
You can write on anything as long as it covers the topic of blogging. I’m looking for a selection of posts – personal stories, how to’s, list posts, guides, vlogs, discussions… anything you can think of. I’d like a good balance of practical and personal experience type posts. Everyone is allowed to submit a post, it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been blogging for four years or since yesterday evening, I think beginners can bring a perspective that long-time bloggers can’t and vice versa.
Why should you get involved…
Because you like me
Ok, not really. You should get involved because;
1. It will be fun
2. You’ll get to read loads of great posts and hopefully have your post read and promoted by lots of bloggers
3. It’s a chance for us to focus on everything that’s good about blogging (image of bloggers sitting around with tambourines just popped into my head, how strange!)
4. Attract readers back to your blog.
5. Get linkbacks to your blog
How to get involved
1. Leave a comment below with your idea and your email address (I can only accept one’s that actually appear, so any problems contact me before the closing date, cheers). Closing date is Monday 31st May
2. On Tuesday morning I will email the participants and let them know how to submit their posts.
3. Posts will be published between Monday 7th June and Friday 11th June
Cool? Ok, who wants to do a post?

I would love to write a post, it’s a fantastic idea and sounds like I’ll learn a lot.
I don’t have much techy knowledge so I could write about why I blog and my experience of blogging so far.
Or I could write a post on how to use Picasa – I use it all the time for my photo’s so I could help other people to learn.
I like both ideas, but sounds like you have something valuable to offer in the Picasa department, do you want to go for that?
I would like to do a post on the fabulous power of blogging – all about our fantastic collective Bloggers for Haiti appeal. That do?
I’ll fetch my tambourine xx
I could write something about travel blogging, the logistics, the community away from home aspects, the connections you make.
That would be fabby EM – That was a really big moment in the bloggyshere.
I’d love to write about Picassa – Might even learn some new things about it myself x
Victoria – excellent, can’t wait for that.
OK, I’ll give it a go. Will think about what I want to write about before committing. Thanks for the opportunity.
I am new to blogging having only discovered this wonderful world in mid April! I would be happy to write a post about why I started blogging, my experience so far, and me complete amazement that people who are not my friends and family seem to like it and read it!
Ooh, I’d like to write about the power of blogging to raise money for my marathon, and how it gave me the impetus to keep going because I had so many people following the blog!
Sounds great Mummyinahurry
Sounds good Rachael, I’ll need a way to get in touch with you though. Cheers
Hi Erica–
You can email me at cafebebeuk@hotmail.com Great idea!
I’ve got several Vlog ones including Tips for Successful Parent Vlogging. Plus I’ve got 1 that I just did on the 18th of May for my 1 year Blogoversary- a Top Tips on Blogging sort of post!
Karin
Hi Erica,
What a great idea! I would like to blog about being a newbie blogger and all of the discoveries you make on a day to day basis. So much to learn and it keeps your creative juices flowing! For me its been a huge creative outlet that I was missing before.
Thanks
I owuld like to write about blogging as a shairng community (of tips and ideas)
Sounds a great idea, Erica. We are away next week so I won’t get a chance to write anything I’m afraid.
Great idea! (again) I’d like to write one on how to promote your blog (if that sounds like a good idea).
Nice idea Erica.
Tight deadline I like it. What about something on Podcasting?
Great ideas Emily and Melitsa.
Hello there! Only just discovered you but would love to join in! How about something on anonymity or lack thereof in blogging? Oh and I’d love to be part of the next Guest Post Day too please?
I would love to get involved too. I could do something more personal on how blogging helps me deal with my day to day issues
Harriet could you leave me your email address please.
Fabulous idea, Erica – not sure how I could contribute though? My blogging experience is MOR… I’m a parent blogger who blogs about almost anything *blush*.
What about social networking? The use of Twitter & FB incorporated with blog promotion? From a non-PR prospective? Coming from no experience to top 50 in the Top Tots 100 in 4 months?
Nickie – Coming from no experience to Top 50 in four months is amazing and *definitely* worth a post.
Of course, I meant “perspective” there.. not “prospective”… the Eurovision wine is kicking in LOL!
I’ll put something together for you tomorrow
Yes definitely count me in Erica. I could write about content, and why I believe there are no good or bad blogs, only different ones. Or anything you like! You have my email x
Sorry! I thought if I put it on the form you’d get it, but clearly not. It’s planbee@btinternet.com
Oh I want to join in, pretty please. Can I write one about how you have to have confidence in yourself in blogging and find your own stride and little niche because if you just strived to be like other bloggers you would end up dissapointed (from personal experience). Thanks Mich x
Sounds like a fab idea.
I could do something about crafts and bloggers. From their talents to tutorials and inspiring others to create.
Great idea, I could write about how to write Reviews
would you like one on nblogs as a sharing community?
I wrote one a couple of weeks ago on ‘Blog/Life’ balance.
Could I submit that?
hello, I was just thinking of a personal post about why I started to blog (connecting with friends and family overseas) and how it became so much more to me, and how much I love the blogging community. Brilliant idea, would love to participate.
I’d like to give it a whirl. I am currently working on a post about healthcare in the UK and Swizzerland…interested?
Actually, just re-read you modus operandi – I’d like to contribute: what about blogging dos and don’ts?
my email is kitten22481@gmail.com
BTW, I am cooking up a personal experience post about moving from the US to the UK and putting my foot into the mummy blogging community for the first time.
Rosie suggested I use my blog or not to blog post would that be ok?
Hi Susan,
Yes that’s fine, I’d prefer new posts but if Rosie has suggested it then it must be amazing and well worth a place in the festival
Can you email it to me pls – erica.littlemummy@googlemail.com Thanks
i’m a British mummy married to an american, living in Germany. I’d love to write about how blogging helps me to keep in touch with family and friends back home (in both the UK and the US!)
How’s that?
should have left me email addy its newmummy@live.co.uk I’m @caroljs on twitter
This sounds like another great idea Erica! I could write about friends and family’s views/misconceptions/prejudices about blogging? My email address is heatheryounguk@googlemail.com
Great idea. How about something on how blogging helped me get over PND?
Alternatively I could do something on ‘things I’ve learned from blogging’.
Ellen
PS I’m at ellenarnison@hotmail.com or @ellen27 on twitter.
Oh forgot my email!
insomniacmummy@live.co.uk
Hi Mr Shev could you leave your email address please
oh in case the email in the comment box is not suficient you can also email me directly at geekymummy@gmail.com
michael@sandboxdesign.co.uk
sorry…
Hi Erica, great idea. If you still have room I’d like to write about why I blog anonymously and how that sometimes prevents me from publicising my blog in the way I’d like, and makes it difficult to attend blogging events such as The MADs ceremony or CyberMummy.
morethanjustamother (at) virgin (dot) net
Nooooooooo you can’t put this up over a bank holiday when I’ve got two small sick people so I miss it – is there any way I can be a late inclusion?
Would love to write about balancing work & blogging or why I haven’t told my family and friends about my blogging
muddlingalong@gmail.com
I would love to be involved in this – I can write about coming into mummy blogging having worked in Online Marketing and PR and how it is similar/different to other sectors of blogs I work with.
I think you have my email already too – do you need me to send it to you?
Muddling Along Mummy, Alice, Nickie – Could you please send your posts to erica.littlemummy@googlemail.com by Fri 4th June pls. Thanks!
Hi Erica,
Over-zealous deleting by my phone means I can’t find the email address to mail my submission to. Can you possibly let me have it?!
Thanks and sorry.
ps just seen it in the previous comment. So you can ignore this!
