Bootiful Turkey
So after two years of devotion to the chicken nugget we’ve managed to get Erin to eat turkey, albeit in drumstick form.
Like any decent parent I’m now wondering if I can get her to eat it in any form other than ‘bootiful’ drumstick….I know, I know the odds are not good, I should just save the effort knowing that one day she’ll realise that meat tastes good even when it isn’t reconstitued into drumsticks, dinosaurs or nuggets. In the meantime thank the lord for birds eye and bernard matthews
I love the bbc recipe website and a search for ‘turkey’ brought up 113 results! I fancy the sound of beer battered broccoli with turkey goujons and soy/chilli dip or turkey burger with tomato and apple relish served with potato wedges. Bootiful!
So come on, what turkey recipes do you have? Do you eat much turkey? Do your kids eat it?

Turkey Enchiladas a la Annabel Karmel are a family favourite here. You can find the recipe at: http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/family/enchiladas
I find the turkey mince very good for healthy burgers (remember mine with the odd green tinge due to the spring onion?) I also make the same mixture into meatballs and serve with pasta and tomato sauce. Well done Erin! xx
Erin – I think they eat quite a bit of Turkey in Anerica don’t they?
Englishmum – I might have to give your burgers a go, serve them with some of that tomato and apple relish.
My kids like turkey steaks (easy cooking from Sainsburys) topped with mozzarella e fresh tomato sauce or fresh tomato cubes. Slightly fried the steaks in olive oil both sides and then topped them with mozzarella and when the mozzarella is almost melted add the tomato sauce. Cover for a couple of minutes and that’s ready. I usually serve them with mashed potatoes or carrots. Ciao. A.
That sounds really good Antonella.
I do turkey burgers weith breadcrumbs and bacon – yum and also curry what is left over from a roast – the boys love curry
I use turkey mince for lots of things – burgers, meatballs, bolognese.. We much prefer it to beef – and it’s much lower in fat too so a winner all round!
YummyNo1 – Do you not miss the flavour of the beef? Or don’t you notice.
Turkey mince and turkey bacon seem more common in America than over here. Roasted Turkey is usually served for the Holidays (Thanksgiving & Christmas) though. Chunks of turkey breast also work well in pretty much any recipe you would normally make with chicken breast chunks!
