I like your “rules”, mine are similar.
My parents read mine, so I think of their feelings. And I don’t talk about my work or employer. I don’t find my ‘rules’ curtail my blogging. But then again, maybe I’m really boring to read!

I am absolutely like you Erica. I basically wouldn’t blog about anything that would upset someone if they came across it.
I do retain some level of anonymity (I don’t use my married name) but still, I wouldn’t like someone writing about me so I wouldn’t do it about them.
I do have a line, a very thick black line that I do not cross!

It’s a very difficult subject this and like English Mum and Dulwich Divorcee I blog anonymously which can be dangerous…you think you can get away with more but there’s alway a risk involved…..I may well have to start writing about the weather soon too. Or delete the whole thing! Lx

Very tricky subject – my children now often say they don’t want me blogging about them, and I have to steer clear of other bits of my life for legal reasons (!!). I’ll pretty soon be just blogging about the weather ….luckily there’s lots of it in the UK ….

I suppose I think ‘Would I tell my friends this in real life?’ and that’s it!

Yesterday I was going to post a story about my Grandma for the Writing Workshop. She had an abusive step mother and had a rought time growing up. After I wrote it it, I was about to publish & just thought ‘what the hell am I doing?’ These were her stories of an unhappy childhood which, I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t want strewn around the internet (if she knew what it was). I can’t believe I almost published it! Sometimes I think I get caught up in ideas, not thinking that anyone can read it.
So, whilst there isn’t much I wouldn’t post about – I talk about & post pictures of my family – I wouldn’t reveal anyone’s secret or discuss anyone else on my blog without their permission. I would never slate my company or even talk much about work (I may allude to it now & again) as I publicise my blog on Facebook & have a few work colleagues on there. It doesn’t look good if HR are having a go online!

I also tend not to swear too much even though I have a right potty mouth in real life – again I’m friends with my mum’s friends on Facebook & I couldn’t look at them in the face if I was all f***ing this & f***ing that!

Oh and I wouldn’t slag anyone I know off, that’s just mean.

I don’t write much about my children and steer away in particular from discussing anything about how they are getting on at school. I may write the odd post now and then but I’m not always a fan of reading about children through the eyes of their doting parents, sounds ridiculous to some I’m sure, each to their own! I will do a personal blog post now and again but mostly I am blogging to share information I hope may be useful or entertaining.
