Seven Things I’ll Never Do Again
1. TA Basic Training
It was a teenage ambition of mine to become an army officer and complete the training at Sandhurst. Then I met Alex. So I decided to join the TA and the Basic Training was my personal challenge, I wanted to win a prize at the passing out parade, which I did.
It was a two week course that tested everything from fitness to mental strength and it was very hard, physically it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
2. Work in an office
I spent about six years working in offices doing general (shuffling paper) type jobs. The nine to five routine wasn’t really for me and neither was the repetitive style of the jobs. Hopefully I won’t have to go back to those type of jobs.
3. Live in a flat
Obviously if it’s a choice between living in a flat or being homeless then clearly a flat is pretty desirable. However I love living in a house and I think we’ll come to appreciate our garden once it doesn’t resemble a jungle, and I really don’t miss lugging shopping up four flights of stairs.
4. Live anywhere but the country
I love living ‘out the way’. Where I live now is semi-rural and it’s the perfect balance although I reckon we may move to an even more isolated spot in the distant future.
5. Eat Haggis
Sorry but it’s yack, ‘sheeps innards’ are not for me, not never not know how.
6. Go more than two years without a holiday abroad
We had too much fun on this year’s holiday to consider putting it off again for too long.
7. Get a manual car
Seroously, why do people by manual cars when you can get ones that do it all for you? Weird.

I’m with you on all of those apart from the manual car thing. There is something freaky about having your gears changed for you.
Plus if you get too used to an automatic then you’re buggered if you unexpectedly have to drive someone else’s manual

I drove an automatic for 2 weeks in NZ and then when I got back in a ‘real’ car I’d forgotten how to drive!
Never, ever say never. Actually yours were all good things to say never to so ignore that.

Well I am one man that is not a fan of the manual. But that is because it is a pain in traffic jams.
Reversing into a tight spot can be an issue as you have a bit of a lack of control, it can be a bit jerky – My excuse for not parallel parking
I definitely agree with the office one. The thought of that gives my cat boils. I like my manual car though. I also love living in a house and being not too far from the country. And I will never again hide behind a cart load of barrels at 1am with a bunch of wild haired harridans. Then again, I might. ;D
I would never want to work in an office, but an apartment in downtown New York would be my ideal home (bigger than a flat, obviously!)
