Making coleslaw is a bit of a family tradition, my nan makes it for family parties along with homemade sausage rolls. My mum used to make it occasionallly, both recipes involved quite a bit of mayonnaise, tomato puree and ketchup, which I always thought was quite odd but it always tasted good. I’d like to think this is my updated version, with a little less fat and absolutely no ketchup, I hate the stuff.
Ingredients
A White cabbage
5 Carrots
1 Red onion
1 Leek
4 pots of low fat yoghurt
3 Tbsp Mayonnaise

We’re off to see and review Robinson Crusoe and the Carribean Pirates at the Kings Theatre. Ruth who represents the Kings Theatre in Edinburgh has kindly provided us three tickets for press night – 2nd December 2009, which happens to be hubby’s birthday
There aren’t any major celebs just the usual favourites Andy Stewart and Grant Stott (John Leslie’s brother, or maybe that’s half brother) plus some woman from Taggart, not that any of this bothers me the celebs are neither here nor there to me. …

Background Story
A woman who smashed a glass bottle into the eye of a man, leaving him partially blinded has escaped jail as she claimed that only she could look after her baby as she is breastfeeding. The woman’s health visitor said that she didn’t know how the baby would react to formula or feeding from a cup or bottle.
Although woman are able to give birth in prison and care for their babies there, this scenario is not allowed post birth.

Last week Kerry from Think Parents (who by the way is about to set off on a six month trip across America, me jealous?) organised it for us to go and see a pre-showing of
Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure. We managed to get to a special showing which included a fairy breakfast. I asked for an invite for Erin’s friend too, so to say they were excited was an understatement!
The morning began with choosing a fairy outfit to wear, followed by the making of wands. The breakfast …

This is a guest post by ‘mum of teens’
I watched Meera Syal’s documentary about self-harm recently.

My daughter is a part of the statistic that says one in three teenage girls abuse themselves. …

Thanks to Two in There for awarding me the zombie chicken which is surely the oddest name for an award yet. I am known to cluck here and there though and I often look like a zombie….
The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken ? excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a …

In a bid to be more healthy I decided to give graze a go, it’s a company that sends you a small box of fresh fruit and nuts through the post so that you can ‘graze’ healthily throughout the day.
The box is small enough to go through the letterbox and you decide which day (or days) you want to receive it. Your first box is ?1.49 and then you get a couple of boxes at ?2.49 and then it’s the full price of ?2.99, that includes postage.

All I see is fear and scaremongering. Is it time for us to take a reality check? We aren’t allowed to video our kids at the school play, we can’t take pictures at the swimming pool or at the soft play, we have to sign a disclaimer allowing photos at nursery, and every man is a potential paedophile.
I’m beginning to really worry where all this will end. The subject of protection is in the news again as a new law comes into practice demanding police checks for volunteers …
