Hiya - I've just posted about it here:

http://www.gotyourhandsfull.com/2008/05/how-i-have-cut.html

I feel ridiculous that I haven't cut back like this before - the other factor is that I am very overweight so it's a health thing too - crap snacks soon add up.

well done on keeping your blog going so well, it's looking great.

have a great weekend.

Thanks for posting about this, I have cut my weekly bill by around 15 per cent recently as petrol is costing so much more and my partner works a bit of a journey away, plus he's due to be out of a job soon unless he gets something else so we may need to economise big time.

Yes especially when buying in bulk - with Costco you will have to pay for membership but MACRO is free. I would definitely go and check them both out and see which you prefer.

It is much more cost effective for purchasing party food and large quantities of items such as water bottles, crates of beer, cases of wine and so on. I also find some electrical items are also cheaper.

Great idea to raise this as an issue - I think about it loads!

I try to save money by making cheap lentil soups.

My biggest annoyance is when fresh veg goes off before I have time to make something with it.

I don't really plan my meals as it depends what is on offer when I do my weekly shop. I do make a list of the main items I need to buy like bread, sandwich stuff for the kids, fruit and vegetables. I do make use of any special offers such as BUY 1 GET 1 FREE and so on.

1.) Predominantly, where do you shop? Tesco

2.) How often do you shop? Weekly

3.) How much (on average) do you spend? ?100 (this includes household products)

4.) How many people are you buying for? 2 adults, 2 kids

5.) Do you do any of the following - meal plan, make a list, have a budget? make a list

6.) If at all, how have you tried to lower your spending on food and household items? Special Offers and sometimes use a Wholesale company like MACRO.
