Quick Activity – Bubbles
Mother at Large asked me the other day if I had written about bubbles yet, and I was surprised to find, after browsing the archives that I haven’t…
Bubbles are a great quick activity for babies through to about eight or nine. Babies are fascinated by the bubbles they’ll stare at them gliding through the air. Toddlers like to pop the bubbles and older kids like to blow bubbles. We were at a wedding recently that provided bubbles for the kids as entertainment. The toddlers through to older kids happily played together for well over half an hour!
If you don’t want to sit blowing the bubbles yourself, I can recommend a bubble machine, which is also great for garden parties.

I'm a 27 year old mum to 4 year old Erin. We live just outside Edinburgh in a small rural village.
I've been blogging for four years and write about anything and everything that takes my fancy.

Billy is now banned from having bubbles in his lawn mower as its killing is Daddy’s precious lovely grass, the bl**dy grass has its own man that my sado husband pays to come a treat it so it looks nice. So we now have to play bubbles at grandmas!
Bubbles are definitely a fun activity, and I would argue from ages 0 – 99. Honestly, give some tools of the trade to some teenagers and see what happens!
And I’ve nominated you for a schmooze award! Congratulations!
Em – I think you should build decking over the grass, bring back the bubbles I say
Kin – You’re right bubbles can be great for all ages, thanks a lot for the nomination.
Yes, bubbles are a classic game that no child will not enjoy. It’s definitely a game that my kids love.
Do you know, despite mentioning this to you the other week, I do not even have any bubbles here for Beanie! Though I suppose I could be resourceful and use washing-up liquid and water. Thanks, good reminder to buy or make some for her, as she is captivated by the bubbles. She’s having fun at the moment playing with a helium-filled balloon I got her dad for his birthday last week. A friend said the Early Learning Centre was good for bubbles.
My mother in law bought a good bubble toy in lidl’s, I don’t know how much it was, but it works a treat
