British Parent Bloggers

Calling all British Parent Bloggers

I have set up a blog ring. This is a chance for readers to find other british based bloggers, for us to find more like minded people and increase our community. The only criteria for joining is that you are;

a) Blogging regularly on a topic that relates to parenting (others will be accepted on a case by case basis, ie splogs and spammers need not apply)

b) A Parent

c) Living in Britain

d) You must display the blog ring HTML on your site. To see what it looks like, scroll down and look under buttons & awards in the sidebar. If you need help with adding the HTML I’m happy to assist.

If you would like to join:

NOTE: We’re having issues with the HTML breaking people’s sites in Internet Explorer (including this one!) – so in the meantime, email me directly – we’ll have new code available soon.

  1. I’ve joined – subject to owner approval. Back over to you now!!! And well done on setting this up. Great idea. Let’s hope lots more parent bloggers join up.

  2. Little Mummy says:

Thanks, I’ll be off out recruiting today.

  3. I’ve signed up too Little Mummy! Thanks for letting me know about it. Great idea, I’ll promote it on my site.

  4. Little Mummy says:

Nice one, I have sent you the HTML :)

  5. t-bird says:

joined up but the code cashed my blog :-( Will try again once I’ve resusitated it!

  6. Little Mummy says:

Oh no! There haven’t been any other problem reported, hope it gets better soon.

  7. Alasdair says:

    Hey there!

All done, joined (on fifth attempt) and even managed to add the code despite being a total eedjit! Praise be the wordpress LOL … no crashing problems here …

  8. Omega Mum says:

Thanks for the invitation to join. Just about to give it a go.

  9. Little Mummy says:

Well done Alasdair, I just confirmed you as a bona fide member

    **Update**

Due to the positive response to the blog ring I have bought up the domain names http://www.britishparentbloggers.com and the .co.uk version, once we have enough members I will set up a blog there and that can be the homepage for the blog ring (it is temporarily here).

  11. Piers says:

Great idea! I’ve found it really hard to find parent bloggers in the UK, and this will definitely help.

One quick question – is it just for parent bloggers, or do websites for parents that have a blog qualify?

Thought I should ask before I start polluting the airwaves :)

  12. Little Mummy says:

    Hi Piers,

I said that I would consider websites that aren’t blogs on a case by case basis, what I don’t want is a whole bunch of shops, splogs and spammers getting in.

If we are talking about Little Legends here, then you are most welcome :)

  13. beta mum says:

    hi
    thanks for invite.
    great idea
not sure hwat i have to do but will try to figure it out.

    or find someone who can

  14. Little Mummy says:

Hi beta mum, you just need to copy the code and paste it into your sidebar.

  15. eMummy says:

Thanks for the email! Love the idea – I’m in. I shall sort out the code now :-)

  16. Jo Beaufoix says:

    Hi Little Mummy

    Fantastic idea.

I’ve joined up and the wiget will be added as soon as my sites make over is finished.

I’ve done a link in a post though.

    Hope that’s ok for now.

  17. Little Mummy says:

    I’ve added you both :)

  18. Jennifer says:

I’ve joined up but your code for the ring doesn’t work. Its table based so it infects CSS based markup and makes it crash. Do you have a standards based ring code I could use? Thanks.

  19. Little Mummy says:

    I think t-bird had the same problem Jenny, someone gave her advice on how to fix it in the comment of this post;

    http://tbirdanni.blogsome.com/2007/07/11/serves-me-right/

Let me know if it works!

  20. Jennifer says:

That doesn’t solve the problem I’m afraid. Its all down to the table layout. A lot of blogs use such strict markup that putting tabular code into them makes them crash. Thats what’s happening to me. Do you have a standards based solution?

  21. Little Mummy says:

Hi Jennifer, My tech guy is looking into it now – what’s your blog url by the way?

  22. Piers says:

Yes – banging on about LittleLegends – thanks!

  23. Alistron says:

    Hello!

I followed a link posted on a parenting forum, great idea littlemummy!

  24. Little Mummy says:

Hi Alistrom, glad that you’ve joined up.

  25. Emily says:

THanks for the invite! It sounds like a fab idea and it would be nice to develop a strong UK parenting blogging community. Have you thought about inviting Juggling Mother and Mothersontheverge? Both ace and funny

  26. Little Mummy says:

Emily – I definitely asked mothers on the verge, can’t remember about Juggling Mother – feel free to spread the word though :)

  29. Piers says:

    Hi
I had a few problems getting all the various options of the blog ring displaying nicely on our blog.
I’ve knocked up a very simple button with 3 options: previous, list/join and next.
The code for it is as follows:

    «
    »

  30. Piers says:

    Oops. the code is
    «
    »

  31. Piers says:

Sorry – the code to cut and paste is:

    <a href=”http://www.ringsurf.com/netring?ring=littlemummy;id=20;action=prev” title=”Previous”>« </a> <a href=”http://www.ringsurf.com/netring?ring=littlemummy;action=list” title=”See everyone on the ring and/or join”>
    <img align=”absmiddle” border=0 src=”http://www.littlelegends.biz/bpb.png”></a> <a href=”http://www.ringsurf.com/netring?ring=littlemummy;id=20;action=next5″ title=”Next”>»</a>

  32. Little Mummy says:

    Thanks Piers,

I’ve had trouble with the code too, hence why it’s not displayed at the moment.

Once the site is built we intend on implementing a much simpler system and cutting out ringsurf altogether. So sit tight everyone :)

  33. ella says:

Thanks for the invitation to join. I’d love to and I think it’s great to finally have a brit parent bloggers ring. Is the code available yet?

  34. Little Mummy says:

    Hi Ella,

You can join via the above join button and use the ringsurf system for now, this will keep you in the loop until we have the site up and running.

If you need any help, feel free to drop me an email.
