Inspiration for this group of articles (listed below) comes from Jack Canfield’s bestseller – How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. I am taking the principles from the book and applying them to life as a parent.
Life as a parent is busy. Fact. So busy, sometimes (most of the time) you wonder how you’re going to fit it all in.
A quote from the book;
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming …

As a parent it can seem like merely ‘surviving’ the day is an achievement in itself. This can make us look inward and lose focus of the bigger picture.
In the book baby-proofing your marriage it said that parenting dependant children is a relatively small …

Inspiration for this group of articles (listed below) comes from Jack Canfield’s bestseller How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. I am taking the principles from the book and applying them to life as a parent.
During the first few months of parenting it seems like your life has been turned upside down, under the mound of nappies, soothers and pink it’s easy to lose yourself and resign to chief nappy changer/bottle washer status for evermore. There were times when I wondered who …

Set Realistic Expectations
For me, realistic expectation in a day includes keeping Erin clean, safe, fed and clothed. I try to provide at least one activity a day which can be a simple excursion to run an errand, a trip to the park/soft play/friend’s house, or an indoor activity like painting or getting a special toy out. Most …

My life dreams at sixteen were to get my own house, get married and start a family, I completed that last year when I gave birth to Erin, which has meant lots of soul searching this year as to what to do next!
I was in two minds whether I wanted to share my most personal dreams and ambitions with the world (or the hundred or so daily visitors). It’s a bit daunting, my dreams are ambitious, some might even say unachievable but I am very focussed on them and …

I am trying to introduce an element of conscious self development into my life to keep me focussed on my goals and ambitions. The first book I read was The Sedona Method, which I reviewed (albeit briefly) last week. I have just finished another book – How To Get From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be: The 25 Principles Of Success, this has provided a lot of food for thought and I want to try and apply the principles, specifically, to motherhood, parenting, juggling work …

Erin’s current daily vocabulary;
“Hiya” (not hello)
“Oh, dear”
“Oh, no”
“Oh, yeah”
“Pretty girl/shoes”
“Two” (never one, or three)
“Good Girl”
“ah, ah, ah” or “bah” (when someone, usually me, is being naughty, or telling her off)
“Garden” (to play round and round the garden)
“aargh, baby”
“goggle, goggle, goggle” (I have no idea, either?!)
“Ta” (at least she has manners)
“dog, dog”
“mum”
“dad”
“dad-dad” (Grandad)
What’s more funny, than the words is the expressions!!

We took Erin and her friend along to Molly’s Play Centre which is situated on the top floor of Ocean Terminal in Leith.
To be honest it was a bit of a punt, as we weren’t sure if 15 month old Erin and her 10 month old friend would be old enough to really enjoy the delights of soft play. We needn’t have worried. They were right in there, clambering over the colourful blocks, crawling after one another, enjoying the views and swimming in the ball pool. …

This idea was started here.
Here’s mine;
1. My Talking Computer
This was VERY 80′s and I loved to practise my spelling on it (yes, I was that sad).
2. Getting Lost
This was a game my Mum used to play in the good old days, when you could get a tank of petrol for a fiver. We would jump in the car and my brother and I would take turns of choosing left or right until we were lost and mum had to find her way home!
3. Care Bears
