Are you in a parenting rut?
It’s easy as parents to do the same activities day in day out. For example arts and crafts is my forte, so naturally I tend to do a lot of these types of activities with Erin (see here).

A littlemummy reader gave me the idea for this activity. Simply mix cornflour and water to make the weirdest substance ever, you need to try it to see
We had an absolute blast (as you can see!). In fact it’s probably the best activity we’ve done so far. It’s a little messy, but easy to clean up because it’s only flour and water.

We recently celebrated a first birthday. Erin received a lot of excellent gifts, here’s what I would have bought for a one year old.
1. Books
Books would be my number one choice. Erin loves them, they last for a long time and aren’t that expensive. Oh, and they are educational too
2. Light & Sound Toys
As much as I said I wouldn’t go the plastic fantastic route, Erin loves them and for solo play they are ideal.
3. Musical Instruments
Specifically rattles, tambourines and drums. All one …

We had fun yesterday with our first foray into the world of play dough. With only one attempt at ingestion I thought it went pretty well.
Erin enjoyed investigating, throwing it on the floor (!) and ripping it into small pieces.
The guide on the tub said two years upwards but having worked at a nursery prior to having Erin, I felt confident she would be fine with my full attention
