I have been asked to review Baby-Proofing Your Marriage written by Stacie Cockrell, Cathy O’Neill & Julia Stone.

Baby-proofing your marriage is a warts and all look at how the arrival of kids affects a marriage (and what you can do to prevent the negative effects!). The book combines humour and practical advice in equal doses, which will ‘hit the nail on the head’ for many new parents.

My first impressions of baby-proofing your marriage were good, the cover was fun and appealing, and a quick flick through revealed an almost blog-like style with chunks of text divided by bold headings and a chatty tone. The summary on the back confirmed that it was the type of book I might have bought (if I hadn’t been asked to review it).

I plan to do a (very) quick overview of each chapter with lots of chitter chatter or my own, as a lot of the topics I’ve never talked about on littlemummy.com. But first I’d like to get my gripes out of the way :)

I only have two gripes with an otherwise funny and engaging book. The price, at £10.99 (call me a cheapo) it is a bit more expensive than I would usually pay for a comedic paperback. In places I felt the book was a bit too stereotypical resulting in a slight cringe factor, which was a shame because the facts and information remained ‘on the button’.

If your interested in buying Baby-Proofing Your Marriage please stay tuned for my chapter overviews.
