I finally got through to the college and spoke to a really nice woman about enrolling for the open learning core maths course.

I have already contacted ILA Scotland and was awarded £200 towards learning for this year. I’m guessing the course will cost around £75 of which I must pay the first £10. So far, so good. £10 and lots of commitment should see me through this first phase :)

I am worried that I have forgotten the maths I learned at school and fear this will be like starting over, I hope that with a lot of effort I can get through it. Of all the subjects my weakest is definitely maths so if I can navigate this part successfully then it will be a huge confidence boost. Luckily, I have a buddy up my sleeve who should be able to help if I find myself completely out of my depth.

**A quick note if you are living in Scotland and wish to learn something new, I’d highly recommend applying to ILA. They have two awards, £100, and £200, which is based on your earnings. The good news is you don’t (quite) need to be in the bread line to be eligible.
