I am planning a "think pink" birthday party for my daughters 1st birthday. I just thought I would share some ideas I had. I thought about making mimi pink popcorn balls and making bread in a bread machine and adding red food coloring so the bread will be pink! Then make sandwiches and cut them with little cookie cutters in the shape of hearts or whatever. Also on the invitation I am telling everyone they MUST wear pink to attend!! I am having a hard tme coming up with a non sweet side to go with the pink sandwiches any ideas?

It is hard to find pink foods that don't include fish and other such grown up foods. Here's a couple of ideas that we came up with for my best friend's 8 year old daughter. One idea is a pretty bowl of strawberry sugar wafers. Another is filling ice cream cones (we used small sugar cones) with pink cotton candy instead of having ice cream. We also found the coolest castle cake. It took us a few hours to make it, but we are amatures at that sort of thing.

Wow, that's a big responsibility for you.

I find it's always easiest to pick a theme, for example I have chosen pink. For a five year old girl 'fairies' might be good.

Once you have a theme you can choose games. Pass the parcel, musical statues, and pin the cherry on the ice cream (or something that fits in with your theme) are good options.

As for food, if you are doing this singlehandedly I would keep it very simple. Ham sandwiches cut into triangles, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages and mini pizzas are absolutely fine.

For desert, set up an 'ice cream factory' give everyone a scoop or two of ice cream and provide toppings like jelly sweets, chocolate drops and a few different sauces and let the kids help themselves.

Hey, I saw this on the lfe carnival too and wanted to share something I've done for a friend a year ago as I'm a graphic designer.

I took a pic of her girl while napping and added trough Corel the legend: ACTUAL SIZE, then inside you I added the kid's name and bday; I printed a bunch of them in real life size at a monochrome laser printer (as kids aren't that big at this age) and tri-folded them. You can print them out in pink paper to play with black and white over pink.

Hope this helps,

Aldana

Sounds like it will be quite the party. You can have pink juice at the party, pink cookies. I like your pink dress code idea.

here via the carnival of family life.
