Vtech Sort and Soar Rocket: Toy Review

Ahhh Vtech and leapfrog, my favourite toymakers of the minute.

The Vtech Sort and Soar Rocket was given to her by nana. Essentially its a shape sorter game but with many added extras. For example it moves up and down or ‘soars’ like a rocket. The button at the top enables the soaring and cleverly releases the shapes for the game to begin again. Each time a shape is correctly placed it triggers a song, number, shape word etc, this depends on what setting you have it …

Christmas Day

Before christmas I forecasted how my christmas day would look. I thought it would be a little bit of fun to do a ‘revised’ version (in bold).
7.30ish Erin will wake up looking for her milk

The Christmas Eve Party went off with such a bang Erin didn’t wake until 8am!
7.35 I will wake up and wonder if I can put her off for five minutes
I woke up and thought s**t why did I not a) eat more yesterday, and b) drink a pint of water before bed…..oh, and c) what the …

20 ‘Daddy Time’ Activities

This post about dads spending time with their kids during the holidays caught my eye whilst perusing this weeks’ carnival of family life.
The importance of ‘daddy time’ is very well documented and any father worth his salt will want to spend time with their kids, however, could it be that some dads lack the creative spark or imagination or even knowledge to know what their kids will enjoy and what activities are most age appropriate.
1. Swimming
Babies through to teens they all love swimming. Cheap and fun its always a …

Tiny Dancer: A Year in Pictures

Mummy: This photo looks just like one of me when I was a baby, ask me, and I’ll show you.

Mummy: The competitive streak is in you, even if it is only winning some bed space.

Mummy: You’re around 4 months old here, I chose this picture because the expression on your face is so grown up.

Mummy: A sneaky little smile lets me know that you were happy to be here.

Mummy: Daddy gets the biggest smiles when you’re playing your silly games.

Mummy: We did lots of activities, I don’t know if you …

Post Partum Advice I Used

When it comes to pregnancy, birth and therafter everyone has some piece of advice for you. Here are the pick of the (large!) bunch I was given.

1. Buy more vests and babygro’s than you think you’ll need.
2. Take baggy pyjamas and big knickers to hospital, especially if it’s a c-section.
3. If bottle-feeding, have at least 6 bottles, preferably nine.
4. Buy a microwave sterilizer, they can’t break.
5. The first few months will fly by, make the most of it.
6. Don’t be too proud to accept hand-me-downs.
and the stuff that nobody …

Ten Favourite Baby Snacks

Dried Apricots

Erin loves these as they are sweet and chewy, I need to keep an eye on her though as she trys to stuff them right into her mouth.
Scotch Pancake
Again with a thin spread of butter this make a great mid morning snack.
Toast Fingers
We usually have granary bed and top with butter or jam.
Organix Crunchy Stix
These are great for on the move, and seem to be the favourable option of ‘crisp’ type snack.
Cucumber Sticks
I like these as alternative teether toys, cooled they provide relief and the right amount of give, …
