Games and Christmas, it’s a match made in heaven. Here are few classics that I have participated in over the years.

The Hat Game

Collect together as many hats as you can find, the sillier the better. Have everyone sit in a circle like a train track (ie facing the back of the person in front of you). Give everyone a hat. Start the music, take one hat away, as the music plays each person must ’steal’ the person’s hat in front and place on their own head. The person without a hat when the music stops is out. Play until you have a winner.

Tip - Ply adults with alcohol for a more amusing game.

*Warning* Expect minor fights to break out when someone does not have a hat. I would advise a first aid kit be kept on site at all times :)

The Balloon Game

Blow up some balloons in advance. Divide the party into two teams (works well with a lot of people). Each team must line up, the person at the front must place a balloon between their knees, and race to one end of the room (or waddle!) or around a cone and back to their team. They must then pass the balloon to the next player. Neither players must use their hands. The game ends once all players have had a turn and the team sits down with balloon above head.

Tip - Intersperse adults and children, this makes it funnier when trying to pass the balloon.

*Warning* Expect extreme hilarity and cheating :)

Other games we have played include trivial pursuit, twister, and scene it.
